Website Hosting FAQ

Q ) What if I exceed my space or bandwidth limits?

Your account will be billed for any overage. Fire Pixel charges $0.05/mb for disk space overage and $0.02/mb for bandwidth overage. Fire Pixel will recommend an upgraded hosting plan if you consistently exceed disk space and/or bandwidth limits.

Q ) How reliable is Fire Pixel's hosting?

Fire Pixel offers a 99.9% up-time guarantee. Our websites are hosted on web servers located in Chicago, IL with complete redundancy in power, HVAC, network connectivity, and security. The datacenter sits atop multiple power grids, with full UPS battery backup power and an on-site diesel generator. Dozens of third party backbone providers are available in the building via cross connect including, MCI, Global Crossing, Abovenet, Qwest, XO Communication, Sprint, Williams and Cogent. This facility has been built to meet the high demands and reliability of telecommunications providers and Fortune 500 companies.

The datacenter housing Fire Pixel's web-servers is among the first to be SSAE 16 Audited and acheive SSAE 16 Certification. This supersedes the auditing standard outlined by SAS 70 for data redundancy, network security and reliability of data access.

Our hosting is PCI DDS Compliant. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is an information security standard for organizations that handle cardholder information for the major debit, credit, prepaid, e-purse, ATM, and POS cards.

Q ) How do I manage my email accounts?

Fire Pixel will provide you with a login to your control panel where you can fully manage a number of site functions including email accounts on your domain. Create email accounts, reset passwords, manage email forwarding, and other email related tasks with this extremely intuitive easy to use control panel interface.

Q ) I've heard of unlimited hosting, why are unlimited hosting plans bad?

"Unlimited hosting" means the hosting provider is not imposing any arbitrary limits on traffic or disk space. However, the server capacity and health is indeed limited so your hosting account is at the mercy of all other accounts hosted on that server. Most website and email hosting companies with unlimited plans will add as many accounts on a server as possible to maximize their profit margins, this is why these websites generally tend to struggle with very low performance. Low hosting performance has a high impact on your search engine page rank.
